The holiday season is here and that means parties, gatherings with family, food, sparkly lights, packages and holiday music in all the stores.  For some of us this is a welcome time, full of sounds, smells, and sights that conjure happy memories for us.  For those individuals with autism spectrum disorder, the holidays can mean a time of sensory overload mixed with confusing social experiences. We are all aware that a painful medical condition can have a large impact on our daily lives.  Depending on the condition or multiple conditions a person has, he/she may have less functionality, live in pain, change their behavior and/or become depressed or anxious in reaction to their poor health.  This is not any different for a child with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).  Co-existing medical conditions are likely to affect the child in many ways, making their life more difficult.

TAP Funding for FY15 Restored

Thank you Governor Rauner, members of the Illinois Legislature, and the many TAP Advocates who contacted their elected representatives.  We are happy to say that TAP’s funding has been restored through June 30, 2015.  On April 30, the Governor’s office announced that additional revenues had been located and all the grants that had been suspended at the beginning of the month were being reinstated.
